Our 6-D Process

01.

Data Collection

This is the foundational step where the homeopath gathers all the relevant information from the patient. It includes:

  • Chief Complaint: The main issue or illness the patient seeks help for.
  • History: Medical history, including past illnesses, treatments, surgeries, and family medical history.
  • Symptoms: Detailed collection of symptoms, including the onset, duration, intensity, and modalities (factors that worsen or improve the condition).
  • Lifestyle: Information about the patient’s daily routine, diet, work-life, stress levels, and environmental influences.

The goal at this stage is to get a complete picture of the patient’s physical and mental health.

02.

Differentiation

At this stage, the homeopath differentiates between various possible remedies by analyzing the case in depth. This involves:

  • Looking for keynotes or unique symptoms that stand out in the case.
  • Identifying the totality of symptoms: Every symptom (physical, mental, emotional) is considered as part of the whole.
  • Recognizing patterns in the patient’s physical and emotional states that match certain remedies.

The aim is to identify the specific remedy (or remedies) that can address the totality of the person’s state.

03.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis in homeopathy is not just about identifying a disease name (as in conventional medicine) but about understanding the miasmatic influences (deep-rooted, inherited or acquired tendencies towards disease) and the underlying causes of the illness.

  • Homeopaths often look at the constitutional factors and miasms that may have predisposed the individual to their current state.
  • This diagnosis is holistic and looks at not just the physical disease but the person’s emotional and psychological condition, as well as their overall susceptibility.
04.

Determination of the Remedy

Based on the totality of symptoms, the homeopath will determine which remedy most closely matches the patient’s individual condition. This includes:

  • Selecting a remedy: The remedy that matches the overall symptoms and state of the person is chosen. It could be based on an exact match of symptoms or a remedy that fits the overall energy or constitution of the patient.
  • Potency: Deciding on the potency of the remedy, which refers to how diluted the remedy should be. The potency depends on the individual’s sensitivity, the severity of the disease, and other factors.

The remedy selection is crucial for a successful treatment outcome.

05.

Dose

The dose refers to how much and how frequently the remedy will be taken. Factors influencing the dose include:

  • The patient’s reaction to the remedy (whether they are sensitive to it or not).
  • The intensity of the disease.
  • Constitutional factors: Some individuals need more frequent doses, while others may need less.

The homeopath monitors the patient’s response and may adjust the frequency or potency of the remedy as needed.

06.

Dynamic Assessment

The dynamic assessment involves regularly monitoring the patient’s progress over time after the remedy is prescribed. This includes:

  • Observing changes in the patient’s physical, emotional, and mental state.
  • Keeping track of aggravations (worsening of symptoms) or improvements.
  • Adjusting the treatment plan if necessary, including changing the remedy, potency, or dose.

This is a process of continuous evaluation, as homeopathic treatment is highly individualized and may require ongoing refinement.

Summary of the 6D Process:

  1. Data Collection: Gathering comprehensive information about the patient’s complaints, history, lifestyle, and symptoms.
  2. Differentiation: Analyzing the case to differentiate between possible remedies.
  3. Diagnosis: Identifying the root causes and miasmic influences on the disease.
  4. Determination of the Remedy: Selecting the most appropriate homeopathic remedy based on the totality of symptoms.
  5. Dose: Determining the correct dose and frequency of the remedy.
  6. Dynamic Assessment: Continuously monitoring and adjusting the treatment as needed based on the patient’s response.

By following this 6D method, homeopaths aim to treat the person as a whole, addressing both the symptoms and the underlying causes of the illness. This holistic approach is central to homeopathic practice, where the goal is not just to eliminate symptoms, but to bring about long-lasting, constitutional healing.
